I ordered this turntable for my father in law , who turned 82 and is recovering from a stroke in June. He has wanted to play his old records ,including the old 78's, from years gone by. The turntable came very quickly , my wife and I opened the box to look for damage , but did not take the plastic off the turntable. We gave the present to my father in law , when we opened the plastic covering and removed the tape , there was a clear crack in the cover , about an inch long , which looked had been tried to be fixed , and the taped put over it to hide the defect. I told the family I would relpace the turntable , knowing Amazon has such a good return policy , but he would not hear of it . He gestured how it was such a wonderful gift and he would not want us to go through so much trouble. I gave in and plugged in the turntable , only to find how difficult it was to play one of his 33 speed records. You have to carefuuly manage the record to fit into a small cutout to the left and back of the turntable , where it fits very snuggly. This should be for older people to play their records , but it took much manuvering to get a 33 record just right to fit in both slots and play. The sound was fine , but I am still ashamed I gave such a defected product to him. Overall , if the turntable box was at least 2 inches larger , it would be a great gift. The radio knob and look are very nostalgic , but the company tried to scam a clear break in the cover and made the whole thing too small. So unless the person you buy this for has had a stroke , don't buy it.
